First loop with precise length in bars

Hi all,
I wonder, if there is a way to start a looping session with a first loop that has a precise length of say 8 bars while using input threshold to trigger the loop.
The point is, if I trigger the recording by input threshold, I can't quantise the final end of the recording to e.g. the cycle length, because I have to switch off the sync option for this loop to use threshold triggering.
If I use the sync option, I am not able to start the loop by input threshold.
Is there a way to achieve the desired behaviour: start the loop by threshold and sync the end of recording to an exact loop length quantised in bars?
I tried to record a loop of 120 BPM from my Korg Kaossilator into SL and gave up, because it was impossible to start and stop recording in a way that the loop was running 'round'.
Thanks for hints and comments,
Stefan
