SL engine crashes

Post by kiwidoc66 »

Hi - I've just emerged sooperlooper from the gentoo proaudio overlay and get the following error on starting

david@music ~ $ slgui
slgui: our URL is osc.udp://music:13994/
execing: 'sooperlooper -q -U osc.udp://music:13994/ -p 9951 -l 1 -c 2 -t 40 -m "/home/david/.sooperlooper/default_midi.slb"'

slgui: spawned new engine
OSC error -2: Name or service not known
sooperlooper warning: could not open for reading: /home/david/.sooperlooper/default_midi.slb
slgui: remote looper is at osc.udp://music:9951/ version=1.6.11 loopcount=1 id=1239421134
but treating the engine URL as osc.udp://:9951/
Stored settings into /home/david/.sooperlooper

david@music ~ $ emerge -s sooperlooper

* media-sound/sooperlooper
Latest version available: 1.6.11
Latest version installed: 1.6.11
Size of files: 682 kB
Homepage: http://essej.net/sooperlooper/index.html
Description: Live looping sampler with immediate loop recording
License: GPL-2

It then loses the connection to the engine after about 15s. Any help please?

Thanks
David

Update - oddly SL works fine if Ardour (recording software) is running

Ah, were you starting Jack before running slgui? Sometimes the jack autostart doesn't work right.

Problem solved (no idea how :D ) after a couple of "emerge --update --deep world" so some dependency must have been broken...
