workflow and midi bindings

Post by kelargo »

hello,

I want to use my FCB1010 to control SL. I am not sure which midi bindings are needed and practical. Any suggestions on proper workflow?

My FCB1010 is sending Notes and I inserted kmidimon to see what messages are being sent. I tried mapping "g.ctrl" Select_Next_Loop and it learned the message..
but pressing and releasing the foot pad send two messages and SL jumps to two loop indexes. This seems to be the correct response.. ?

I'm not sure proper work flow and would appreciate any advise. How do you navigate to different loops? Do you have loops predefined?

Hmm, when you set up the binding, try setting the type to Note On instead of Note. That should eliminate the doubling for that kind of command. For the Record, overdub, etc you should be able to use Note or Note On.

Hi,

Thanks.. Finally figured out, SooperLooper was responding like it was intended, because I had mis-configured parameters in my FCB1010, sending bad data ..(not reasonable messages) making it jump.. bad FCB1010 programing.

I'm still trying to figure out what bindings are important, to do the functions needed, to have a reasonable work-flow.

SooperLooper seems to have a tremendous number of features. Appreciate any suggestions.

so far, I just have just three bindings: global select_next_loop and global select_previous loop. and record(selected loop)

I am mostly looking at using this for live guitar playing. I figure, to set up a bunch of loops ahead of time. but I'm not sure if that is how other people use it?

thanks again.

I would suggest to start with something similar as the Echoplex: 7 buttons (record, Overdub, Multiply, Insert, Mute, Undo, NextLoop and add one more button PreviousLopp. That's what I did by creating my own 8-button pedal board using a BrainJr.

For example, I mapped the first button of my pedalboard (sending Note 1) to the command "record" and "loop selected" so that I can record the currently selected loop. Button 7 and 8 map to "global control select_next_loop" and "global control select_prev_loop" to allow easy access to the different loops.
