Loop quantisation to transients

Post by rvs »

Hi Jesse,

Been getting my teeth into SL today and so far so good, but I'm a little stuck with regards to quantisation. Basically, what I want to do is to loop parts of vinyl records on the fly whilst DJing (essentially doing what you can do with Traktor, but with vinyl). The only problem is that much of the music I play is disco and has live drums. On traktor, when you loop, it generally cuts it pretty tightly to the transients, even if your button pressing is a little off. Is there a way to achieve the same on SL using a live input?

Also, I'm experiencing latency issues. Ideally, I'd like the edit to flow on seamlessly from the vinyl without the need to retrigger.

Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks!

Hi,
I guess this might be a tricky one. 'backwards-quantisation' is not possible. You can sync it to the next bar/beat, whatever is set. So you need an external clock for SL and press the button to end record shortly before it should end. Then it will quantize it. If you trigger too late, it will play too much of course.
I'm sorry, my english isn't that good. I hope I could help a little bit.
So basically you need a midi clock signal from the table you can SL sync to.
