Multiple Loops vs Overdub?

Post by FearlessFreep »

Is there a reason ti use multiple loops at one time that are synced? Is there an advantage of that over just using one loop and using "overdub"??

What you get by using separate synced loops is the ability to mute/unmute them as separate independent "layers". You can also be a little more flexible by letting the other loops have different lengths (still musically related) from each other. You get all this in exchange for more complexity and more to keep mental track of. So if your looping style lets you do it all on one loop with overdub, that is still the simplest.
