Re: MIDI binding for BOSS RC-20XL emulation mode
It sounds interesting, though I'm not 100% familiar with the RC-20 button functions. What would you be controlling it with, and what exactly does the RC-20 do that SL doesn't? I'm using it more like an RC-50, with 3 loops at a time, but I have plenty of buttons to do what I want with it. Are you spe...

Re: Automatically setting loop length
You can load a .wav into it that's 8 measures of silence, and if you set the 8th/cycle value to 32, it should give you a good steady beat to record to.

The parameter is called "[ctl] wet". Try that and see what you get.

Re: Building a foot controller... but not MIDI
Tell you what, you'd have a hard time making or finding buttons cheaper than I bought these... they were $0.85 each from SparkFun.com (since I bought more than 10). They're a little noisy, but shouldn't be a problem on a live stage. For everyone: I just upgraded the looper PC with spare parts I foun...

Re: Building a foot controller... but not MIDI
Okay, here's a quick video showing my current looping setup. I haven't even began to scratch the surface of what this can do, but here's a quick song using the new foot controller. I did notice after using 5 loops for several songs (without reloading the session) SooperLooper began to respond to inp...

Re: Continue recording to the end of cycle after pressing STOP.
This is already possible, you have to set "sync to" to "first loop", and on all the other loops make sure "sync" and "play sync" are checked (on). You can hit record any time, and it will start recording at the beginning of the first loop. Once it's recording,...

Re: Newbie question: how do I loop internal sounds?
Did you compile Hydrogen from source? If so, that might be the problem... I don't have a lot of experience with the Mac versions unless you're running Linux on it. Did you get it from hydrogen-music.org ? Try getting the latest version from there, or the previous one if you've already got the newest...

Re: Newbie question: how do I loop internal sounds?
If Hydrogen doesn't show up in Jack, then you need to check it's preferences. Go to File -> Preferences and click the "Audio" tab. The driver might be set to "Auto" or "Alsa" but you need to change it to "Jack" and then apply (it will give an error if Jack isn...

Re: Lost connection to SooperLooper engine.
It's because the newer Linux kernels have IPv6 enabled by default. It likely did that after an update. I will keep an eye out for this when putting SL on newer Ubuntu computers.

Re: Building a foot controller... but not MIDI
Very cool! Is the responsiveness OK, going through as keyboard events? I ask because it isn't the most direct path... MIDI events talk directly to the SL engine short-circuiting any OSC, whereas the keyboard events go into the GUI, which then get sent out as OSC messages to the engine and processed...

Re: Newbie question: how do I loop internal sounds?
I'm not 100% sure on the mac version of Jack. However, when you run Hydrogen, it should show up as another set of connections in JackPilot. Just click on the Hydrogen outputs and connect them to the SooperLooper inputs (same place your "capture" is connected to) and you should get Hydrogen...

Re: Building a foot controller... but not MIDI
Thanks, M! I'm hoping to get lots of use from it. To answer some of your questions: It cost about $75 total for parts. I already had the plastic sheets and screws, but you could use 1/2" plywood. The boards need to be about 2" apart for the buttons and wiring to fit inside. The button spac...

Well, I got a lot of work done on this today. I took two pieces of lexan and bolted them together 2" apart. Here's some pics of it coming together. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs409.snc4/47235_1559014211196_1110486501_31571536_747306_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-...

Re: Laptop Equipment Setup
Yes, it takes some practice to get the loop exactly the right length at first, but once you've got the first loop done, you can sync everything to that. I played around with tapping a drum beat as the first loop, it works well as long as you have a footswitch you can hit exactly on the beat to start...

Re: Building a foot controller... but not MIDI
Well, I got the buttons and controller in the mail, working on building a foot platform for everything. I will try to have some pictures up this week. Total cost for the parts was less than $75 (US), and that's with 20 buttons. If you don't plan on using anything except buttons, this setup looks lik...

Re: Inbuilt multitrack recording?
Well, the idea behind SooperLooper was to emulate an Echoplex and add some features, but you can set it to have individual inputs/outputs in Jack, so you can route as many inputs to loops as you have hardware inputs and RAM for. What other features were you looking to do with it? Can you give us an ...

Building a foot controller... but not MIDI
I've been working with learning the ins and outs of SL, and I have an old ART X-15 MIDI pedal I have tried using with it. The problem I have run into is that it doesn't recognize quick double-steps, which I've seen other users here report from other controllers as well. This makes the multiply funct...

Re: sooperlooper finds jack but slgui cannot
It looks like something is wrong initializing your Freebob drivers (Firewire). If you run sudo slgui, does it give you the same error? It might be a permissions issue with slgui. That's all I can think of off hand.

Re: Finding a workflow that works for me...
Don't forget, you can make SooperLooper use separate inputs/outputs per loop, so you could use a single instance, just route different FX to each loop as needed. In Preferences, make sure to put a check in the box for "Separate I/O Ports" which will make SL show separate inputs/outputs for...

Re: RecordNext without soloing ?
There's no one-button function for this, but you can do it with simple up/down loop and record functions, assuming you have your loops set to sync to the first loop . I tried this on a test machine, haven't actually hooked it up to my sound system yet, but as far as functionality, it works! A few mo...

Re: Laptop Equipment Setup
It all depends on what you use as your sync source in SL. There's a few ways to make it happen, namely, you can have a 4-bar metronome click track and just load that into the first loop, and sync everything to that. This would be the most sure-fire way to do it as it doesn't rely on any other softwa...

Re: SooperLooper and Indamixx--I have no idea how to get started
According to Wikipedia, Indamixx is a custom version of 64Studio Linux: Custom variants of 64 Studio have been deployed in commercial products including the Lionstracs Mediastation, the Harrison Xdubber, and the Indamixx from Trinity Audio Group. 64Studio Linux is based on Debian/Ubuntu, so RPM pack...
