Re: Pitch!

It has had that since version 1.5.0 in January. It is rather CPU intensive (uselessly so on some computers) but it is there for playback purposes.

Re: What am I missing

That sounds strange. What are your settings (all the global ones on top, and the loop specific ones)? It sounds like you might be quantizing to something?

Re: sooperlooper ubuntu hardy 64bit

If you built librubberband, make sure it is installed in a location in your system's library path. On a 64bit system it might be easiest to ensure that it was installed in /usr/lib64, although there are other solutions. I believe someone has made some debian/ubuntu packages (looks like 1.6.9 is the ...

Re: Controller Clip Method

In version of SL prior to 1.6.11 you would need to send the midi trigger clips just a little bit *before* the downbeat, then the synchronization will pick them on the downbeat you want. In 1.6.11 I added a notion of sync slop, where it will actually do a retroactive sync if it receives a command a l...

Re: Audio Dropouts

What was SL doing at the time, playing back on all three loops, for instance? Did the regular intervals correspond to something that SL was doing (eg related to loop length, etc)?

The fact that you don't see it with 1.6.10 gives me hope.

I'm not too surprised. When I finally get around to fixing overdub, multiply will get the same treatment.

Re: What am I missing

1) SL has mute, and pause, which both serve to stop any loop output, but still leaving you the option of restarting/retriggering it any way you want. If you want to start from scratch again, just hit Record! No need to go through the intermediate step of "reseting". If the end of loop memo...

Re: Audio Dropouts

Remember that the GUI is actually a separate application so you need to copy the SooperLooper application into /Applications (or wherever you put it) in order for it to also display the version you expect. Strange behavior, regarding the dropouts. If you really do discover a difference between the S...

Re: Using Overdub, after Record

It sounds as if you might have finished the overdub while your instrument was still sounding/ringing? If you can it's always a good idea to let an overdub go a little while longer before finishing to avoid chops... it's one of the operations where timing doesn't matter much. The xfade only gets rid ...

Re: select next loop by midi problem

Hmm, you have found a hole in the midi binding flexibility of SL. Is there any way you can edit your midi controller itself not to send a momentary press/release events when sending CC? If you could send a PC or a note, your problems would be solved (SL has the ability to pay attention to note on an...

Re: "AU multichannel" choices make Logic crash ... ??

The individual loop I/O should show up as sidechain channels, at least they do in Live and AULab. I'm not sure how Logic presents this concept. So you would still insert it as a stereo plugin (the main ins and outs are stereo), but sidechains should be available. Logic users out there?

Re: Using Overdub, after Record

I haven't seen or heard reports before about the behavior you are describing with regards to overdubbing. I will try to check it out, but the overdub operation never changes the loop length, so it must be introducing some silence where it shouldn't. Is this a total silent gap, or a glitch? Does it h...

Re: Is quantize a global or loop specific setting?

Yes, that is an interesting little secret. SL's GUI makes it appear to be global, but it actually changes each loop's setting. This was done primarily to simplify the interface, but you can change it separately with midi or osc bindings. Just don't touch the GUI control if you do. round, overdub_qua...

Re: problem with midi binding

When using SL as a plugin you should have no need of MIDI Patchbay.

See this thread for how to set it up in Ableton Live:

Re: Replace, insert, sub, delay.

These are operations available on the EDP (not analog). Replace can be used to add in bits of audio which might make your loop more "glitchy" (in an interesting way) or synthetic, in a patchwork quilt kind of way. Substitute is the same, except it doesn't mute the existing loop content whe...

Re: basic functionality

This is probably due to network configuration. Because the SL Gui communicates with the plugin/engine using OSC over the local network, it can sometimes be sensitive to misconfigured network hostnames. I'm guessing there might have been a difference in your network configuration between your two tes...

Re: Help setting up midi control in ableton

No, do not use MIDI Patchbay when using the AU plugin in a host such as ableton, it will just further confuse matters. There are two ways to set up the SL plugin in Ableton. The first (and recommended) is to insert it in an audio track, set up your audio inputs and outputs to your liking and set the...

Re: /register_update vs. /register_auto_update

The only things the GUI uses */register_auto_update for are the output-only controls such as meters, positions, and other information that changes without direct interaction. Any of the controls that can be changed use register_update. I clearly haven't tested using the auto_update for any of those!...

Ah, what you want is the /register [returl] [retpath], which registers you for configuration updates. It will send you the standard ping response whenever the loop count changes. That wasn't documented too well, sorry.

Have you tried experimenting with the latency compensation features in the Preferences->Misc/Latency tab? Turn off the automatic checkbox and start tweaking values. Check the web-page for some documentation on what the input/output latency means. You might find that it helps.

Re: problems with SL on fedora 8

Usually problems like this are due to network misconfigurations. Since the GUI communicates with the engine via OSC over UDP, it is sensitive to issues when your systems reported hostname does not actually resolve to an IP address. Try running 'hostname' then 'ping' whatever hostname it returns. If ...

Re: basic functionality

The trick for you is setting the 8ths/cycle control appropriately. With 'sync to' on Jack/Host, and quantize set to 'cycle', and 'sync' enabled on the loop. For instance, if your time signature is 4/4, then two measures would be 8ths/cycle = 16. However, with this setting it won't let you record any...
