Re: Behavior when opening a session
These were easy fixes, they will be included in the next release. Now all loops with audio start out paused after session load. And empty loops don't save empty files and don't start recording erratically.

Agreed, I will look into binding the session files so the finder will try to start/notify the app.

Re: Starting SL, using JACK
Did you download the SooperLooper-1.6.11.dmg ? I just double-checked and everything is in there once you open it.

Re: Starting SL, using JACK
First of all, you shouldn't be using 1.0.8 of SL, it is super old. The latest versions (eg, 1.6.11) are universal binaries intended to work on both intel and power PC, from OS X 10.4 onward. Quick usage of JACK: 1. Start up Jack Pilot application, go to Preferences and select your audio interface. T...

Re: Multi-Channel Outs
The reason I didn't know SooperLooper worked this way is because I never launched it as a standalone to check out how it works. As a standalone, I discovered that I could drag the window to reveal more loops. Then using the key bindings 1,2,3, I could select the different loops. (That never happene...

Re: Multi-Channel Outs
Yes, it should be easy to set up, those output pairs from SL are the direct outputs from the individual loops of one instance: 3/4 = Loop 1 5/6 = Loop 2 .... etc So you should be able to set those as the audio inputs to a track. SL's "main outs" will be the ones on the track your plugin is...

Re: Loop1 is louder than the rest
I'm guessing that you actually *are* sending sidechain audio into loop 1's direct inputs somehow, identical to what is going in the "main ins", which would make it 6dB higher than the other track. This is a guess, I really would need to test it out with mainstage to see what the deal is wi...

Re: Setup feasibility/advice
You should be able to adjust the output of each loop, using its output level parameter (sometimes called 'wet' in the bindings). sam_square, I'm not sure what mainstage has done with regards to routing but both the standalone and the AU plugin as used within Live can redirect the individual loop out...

Re: Automatic loop dump during performance
The midi-bound save command should be saving timestamped wav files somewhere, even with all loops selected in the binding. The trick is figuring out where. I'm not in front of a mac right now, but do a Spotlight search for files beginning with 'sl_'. Good idea to have a default dump directory specif...

Re: Unquantized Replace
As evidenced by the simplicity of your workaround, it would not be too hard to add as a feature. My question to you is what *are* you quantizing? If it is because you must have quantize on for sync to work, then probably the better fix (for SL) is to properly separate quantize and sync so that one d...

Re: my 'bugs'
Yes, some of those are definitely bugs. To help me, when these things happen, go the SL GUI's Session menu and Save session. Then post (or email) the file to me. This is much easier then trying to describe the state of all the controls, which is critical to me reproducing them.

Re: Mainstage and sooperlooper
The other alternative is to not use JACK at all, and use the AudioUnit plugin version of SL within mainstage directly. You can access all the parameters from within mainstage to set up a control surface. I don't have personal experience with it (nor do I have mainstage) but there are several users w...

Sorry I dropped the ball on this one. I will try to build topot sometime this week and package it up. It is the packaging that is sometimes tricky, but I've had some experience doing it.

Make sure you turn off the auto-eighths option (upper right in the main GUI)... I can see that being a problem.

Re: mrmr and sooperlooper
I was looking into that too. Looks like mrmr only supports a very basic set of messages and is not configurable. Likewise, SL supports a very specific set of messages, so they are not compatible. Two solutions, the first, as you mentioned is to make intermediate software that translates between the ...

Re: First loop with precise length in bars
You've discovered a bug, in that threshold recording seems to be ignored when quantize and sync is enabled on the loop. Otherwise, just turning on 'rel sync' along with quantize and sync should have let you do the initial threshold record and end rounding out to the loop length. Thanks for finding i...

Re: Pitch!
It seems like the pitch only changes when the tempo is 1.0 - it would be great if it you could do this at any playback tempo. I'm not sure what you mean. When you say tempo of 1.0, do you mean 'rate'? If so, here's how it works: you should either change the rate (which changes both speed and pitch,...

Re: sooperlooper ubuntu hardy 64bit
First, uninstall the 1.6.9 package you downloaded.
Then put the following at the end of your ~/.bash_profile file:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/lib:/usr/local/lib64
Then logout, and log back in. Rebuild the latest SL, install it, then try running your built version.

I'm guessing that build is not compatible with your system. I think you were on the right track with your own building of it. If you can post all the steps you did to build it I can help see what is missing.

Re: selecting loop number with note or programchange
You totally can, it just isn't obvious. In the MIDI preferences tab, just set the min and max Targ Range fields to the same value, both of them to the number you want. Then your PC or note messages will set the control.
