Help step by step x MIDI SL with footcontroller

Post by jeanluc »

Hi loopers people

I just make it work SL on my ibook,
now I want to map it with a footcontroller
I tryed using info on some post about MIDI with FCB 1010
but nothing happened, is my first time in MIDI mapping
and I don't like FCB 1010 is two big with the two espression pedal the I don't need...

I'm gonna try with the ADA Midi Program Changer
looks better, like the foot controller of the Gibson Echoplex

can this foot controller work with SL?
somenone can please post a basic step by step for mapping the SL?
there's some basic things to know?

thanks very much everybody in advance :D

If you are using SL standalone with JACK, yes you'll need the midi patchbay in order to connect your midi input to SL (this is SL's fault that it has no GUI interface to do it). If you are using the AudioUnit version of SL, your plugin host will provide the midi connection.

Yes, pretty much any midi controller you can find will work with SL. Ones that only send program changes work, but you won't be able to do things like "long presses" or "SUS" operations which you can do with controllers that send note messages. The FCB1010 can be configured in note mode (not the factory default) and is ideal for SL use. Search the forum, someone recently posted some basic steps to do this. Also, expression pedals can come in handy if you like to change the feedback control, or levels. Also fun for messing with the rate control while overdubbing. But I understand if you think it is too big ;)
